Custom buildings are based on
photographs, measurements
and
color
schemes
provided by you (blueprints are always acceptable). When
photographing
your project, take pictures of all sides and shots of
certain details such as
doors or ornate windows as well as a long shot
showing roof detail and chimney
placement.
You can never provide too many pictures!
Measurements need to be drawn out as they would be on
a
blueprint, showing width and depth of the building.
Pricing
Each building is priced on an individual basis with a
starting
rate of
10 cents
(.10) per scale square foot for the first floor and all additional floors
at
8 cents
(.08) per scale square foot. For example, a 30' x 40' two story house
would
be 1200 square feet. 1200 x .10 = $120.00 and 1200 x .08 = 96.00.
Thus, the
total base cost for
your home on your layout
is $216.00. There is a minimum charge of $60.00 plus shipping for
all
buildings. There is no cost for initial drawings nor estimate for custom work

Here's Richard putting the finishing touches on Bevell's Store in Blackstone, VA. Every year during the Christmas season, Bevell's owner, Bobby Daniels, puts up a great train layout reflecting the local history. Throughout the years, The Railroad Crossing has built many of the model buildings on the layout. In 2011, the City of Blackstone contracted with The Railroad Crossing to construct a model of Bobby's hardware store and presented it to him at the annual tree lighting ceremony, in recognition for all Bobby does for his city.
